IX Simposio Multidisciplinario de Esclerosis Múltiple, Enfrentando a las enfermedades desmielinizantes en el día a día
DESCRIPTION Multiple Sclerosis is the most common chronic, inflammatory, demyelinating neurological disease in adults. This condition has been included in the AUGE/GES program since 2010 and, since October 2015, under Law No. 20,850 (Ricarte Soto Law). The diagnosis and management of this disease require a coordinated multidisciplinary team to address the multiple needs of patients and their families. Both neurologists and neuroradiologists require specific theoretical and practical knowledge for diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. Likewise, the multidisciplinary team—comprising nurses, psychologists, physical therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, among others—is essential for the comprehensive care and management of these patients. The Multidisciplinary Symposium on Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology will take place on April 9 and 10, 2026. Presentations will cover the 2024 McDonald criteria and their application in clinical practice, new NMOSD diagnostic criteria, new therapies, and management beyond pharmacological treatment, including topics such as multiple sclerosis and menopause, PROMs, advance directives, urinary symptoms, and motor and cognitive rehabilitation. As in previous years, there will be an Industry Symposium with national and international guest speakers. In addition, there will be a workshop for non-physician healthcare personnel on the challenges of establishing a Multiple Sclerosis Unit.
